We often hear that it is vital to have a real desire towards reaching your goals and being really passionate about the positive consequences of doing so. The majority of people however have no problems with their desire levels and actually having the desire to reach a goal, is the last thing most people need to work on.
Everybody desires to be a millionaire, to have the body of their dreams, to be a powerful communicator, to be someone who constantly gives value to others and generally just someone that is perceived as having a lot of success. The reason why most people never reach these goals however is because their desire is not backed up by faith and expectation.
I think it is sure to say that most people want to lose at least a couple of pounds, look a little more athletic, get a flat stomach or have those buns of steel they have always been dreaming about:) However it is not very often you see people who actually have their ideal body or anything close to what they envision.
People have several “reasons” for this and here are some of the ones that are most common:
One of the biggest barriers that can stand in the way of you achieving your goals is the fear of failure. This fear exists in the majority of people and even though we are not born with it, we quickly learn that there are risks and “dangers” involved in going for what we want.
This fear is based on getting judged and becoming the laughing stock of other people. Imagine the following scenario:
Success: “The achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted”, this simple definition describes success perfectly and makes the idea of it a lot more tangible. Success is merely the attainment of something you had planned and worked towards. It is imperative to fully understand this simple definition as most people spend most of their lives pursuing things that are not really what they want on a deeper level.
Most people don’t even have a grasp of what they are really looking for and instead they are just drifting through life in a daze, pursuing goals they have been programmed to believe is what they really want.
Who are you? Or rather who do you think you are? Your self-image is the picture you have of yourself and is usually rooted deeply in your subconscious mind. Your self-image is also one of the most critical aspects to study if you ever want to become really successful and achieve your dreams. It is such a crucial factor in your success, because your self-image is what defines the boundaries for how well you can perform in life.
It is quite ironic that self image plays such a big role in our lives, especially because most people don’t have a lot of conscious influence on their self-image. Instead, how people view themselves tends to be a mere act of chance and greatly depends on what kind of experiences they attracted to their lives.
Take a deep breath, open your mind for some new ideas, implement them in your life and explode the amount of success you currently have. The idea of taking the path least travelled has been thrown around for decades and most of us know the great poem on this exact same topic by Robert Frost.
However, there are a lot of great ideas that are constantly thrown around and “known” by people- but if this is the case then why aren’t we getting the results these ideas promote?
We all have things we want to improve and build upon, however the underlying beliefs of doing so are very important when it comes to how we perceive ourselves and whether or not we succeed. The reason we set goals and want to improve usually stems from 2 different scenarios.
In the first scenario you are unhappy about something in your life and decide to do something to change it. The second scenario is when you are happy about where you are, but at the same time inspired to make changes in order to elevate your life even more.
Self doubt is one of the limiting beliefs that can have the biggest impact on our lives if we allow it to. The interesting thing about self doubt is that a lot of times we are not even aware of the fact that we are controlled by it and therefore we fail to do anything to change it.
It will literally creep up on you and stop you from taking the actions that are going to be beneficial for your life and it does so for one simple reason: Fear. The old case of false evidence appearing to be real. Let’s understand what fear really is and then get back into how we can use this information to overcome self doubt.
